Accuracy is all about having the skill/patience to make the adjustments it takes to get the wheel true and no amount of measurement is going to help with that.

What's the real advantage of getting under 0.2 mm lateral trueness (which is easily seen/heard with feelers)?

Most pro builders have this "skill".
Custom Wheels? As accurate as possible.
If you have Xlnt vision. Much easier to see runout on a gauge.
I would say that they are better.
