Thanks for your quick response. However, I don't think it completely answers my question. My shifter is a Shimano RSX 7 speed rear derailleur. The body bolt is on the front. After removing the bolt, I can see the end of the brake cable but not the end of the derailleur or any indication of how to feed the cable through.
