I carry zip ties for these reasons
1. To fix a badly damaged sidewall to let me hobble along without rear brakes
2. To attach any broke lighting brackets
3. I figure duct tape and zip ties can patch anything for a while. (I only used them once when my fender mount broke, I zip tied it)
