This was originally a Peugeot UO-18 mixte which I got off of Craigslist about 7 years ago. My first adult bike at the time! Only it was left to stagnate, given to a then-girlfriend, taken back completely trashed, loaned to a roommate, and trashed even further (the cotters were falling out!). But a few months ago, I decided to make it my DREAM BIKE.
The replaced/upgraded components are as follows:
- Velo Orange French BB
- IRD Defiant 46t crankset
- MKS Sylvan Stream pedals (clones of the original Lyodards)
- Soma Iggy 700c alloy wheels with a 5-speed Sturmey Archer IGH
- Soma New Xpress brown 700x26c tires
- Nitto B617 handlebars
- VO "city" brake levers
- VO brown brake pads which are complete garbage
- A fake-lugged alloy French stem by Pivo from eBay
- Front cable-hanger by Dia-Compe to replace the really flexy original
And the new stuff:
- VO slim smooth 700c alloy fenders (removed the lil' VO badges on the rear)
- ALU-DUR wing chainguard! Ugh, I'm so grateful I found it.
