they just turn the barcons into old school MTB type shifters... sell em so they fit road bars or MTB bars... if you build it up with drop bars i'd stick with the traditional barcon position
Been having a look at them, and like you said, if placed near the stem they could mean the loss of a handlebar bag, and they're also quite pricey!
