You shouldn't have any problem using your current derailleur. In fact it might even shift better since smaller jumps tend to shift better than large ones.

You may have a problem with setting the height if it's a braze-on mount, since the adjustment range is fairly short. Otherwise you might need to experiment with height for optimal shifting. Sometimes lowering the FD to within 2mm or the outer chainring isn't optimal because the ramps built into the inner cage plate are too low, so if performance is less than ideal, you might move it up some more
