Old Sram Red with Trim’s compatibility with the New Sram Red 22.

Hi Guys, I done some homework regarding the compatibility between the different generations of Sram Reds.

VeloNews pointed out the difference in compatibility between the Old Red with Trim, and the Red with Yaw.
It works! We test SRAM Red backwards compatibility - VeloNews.com

Originally, I was going to upgrade from the Old Red with Trim, to a Red XGlide Crankset and the Red 10spd FD with Yaw.

After researching deals around the internet and ebay, I’ve found that the price difference between the Red with Yaw and Red 22 is extremely narrow.

Sram said the Red22 is not compatible with the older 10spd Reds, but they said the same thing last time between the old red and the red with yaw.

My LBS said Red22 is still compatible with the OLD red, just the Red22 cranks are thinner, and that shifting might not be as smooth.
You would think, if I am upgrading from the old red to the new, might as well get the latest one, given if the cost is similar.
However, if I end up having to spend a lot more in getting the Red22 to work along side my older Red groupset, I can surely live with the 10spd Red with Yaw.

So, my question is: Can I use the Red22 FD and Red22 Crankset with my current setup?

What I have: Cannondale CAAD10 bb30
Shifter: Red with Trim
Crank: Red Powerglide 53/39 bb30
FD: Force
RD: Red 10spd
Cassette: Ultegra 11-25 & Force 12-27
Chain: DA 7900

What I want:
1) Compact Crankset, so I can use the Ultegra 11-25 cassette (Closer ratios), and shifts better then the force 12-27.
2) Upgrade FD to Yaw, eliminate chain rub.
3) Spending as little as I possibly can, while achiving my goals, and yet be more future proof with-in my budget(Red 22 consideration).
4) Have also considered the Cannondale Hollowgram Crank, they cost too much, but the ability to add a Stages PM is tempting.
