*there were some bank transfer fees ~$30 and something to note for future reference is that when shipping with USPS to Italy, make sure you pack your frame really well and undervalue for duty purposes, as there is a 30% tariff.

If you didn't need the chrome work your looking at 150€ (sandblasting/paint)+ 100€ (return shipping) =$250€ + shipping to Pelizzoli (USPS ~$65 USD)

The way I looked at it was Cyclart would have cost me the same, so why not just send it to Pelizzoli? It makes the restoration 100% more authentic and special. The guy is 70 years old and a living legend in the cycling world. It was a no brainer decision.

No question that was the right way to go sending it back to Italy or all the right reasons. In addition, I bet you did not get charged extra for the image of Pelizzoli and your frame either. I think you came out pretty well for such a terrific job. I am not sure you could have done any cheaper elsewhere.
Interesting that there is no provision for an importation to Italy when it will be exported upon completion of work. At worst I would have expected the tariff would need to be paid then refunded upon proof of exportation.
