another good option: Ride to Corallitos, climb Eureka Canyon and then Summit road to Old Santa Cruz HWY descent Los Gatos and San Jose

Highway 9 is boring. If you're trying to get from Santa Cruz to San Jose, I recommend Mountain Charlie or Zayante instead. If you're looking for a spectacular ride in the San Jose area, I recommend Mount Hamilton (up and down if your time is limited; loop around the back side if you have more time and energy).
