It is my understanding that there is no connection between the Centurion bikes sold in Europe and the Centurions sold in the USA from around 1970 to 1990. Western States Imports "owned" the Centurion name in the USA and used it on the bikes it imported to the USA, primarily from Japan. In Europe, the name has been owned by a different company, selling their own bike models.

After building Centurion into a "major" name in road bikes, WSI decided to name their road bikes "Diamondback", as with their mountain bikes. And, under the "Diamondback" name, their share of the road bike market soon fell to something close to zero.
