perhaps the characterization of Mr Smock as a "mad dog" is premature. IMHO, when someone feels so little regard for you as a fellow human being that they're willing to kill you with an automobile...all bets are off. Its been years, but one afternoon on the way back to my office from my lunchtime ride in mtn. view, some arsehole in a red M3 tried to run me up onto the sidewalk. Things happened that he didn't anticipate. Now I doubt that I improved his attitude towards cyclists, but I pretty much guarantee that to this day he's a bit wary about confronting a cyclist.
