On my fathers sure we have a very extensive and detailed book of oh genealogy up to his birth. On my mothers side a bit less clear but stable in that everyone stayed put in VT for two hundred years.
I too found that most of my ancestors in the 1800s not only stayed put in just a single Long Island county, but for about 30 years most of them lived right next door to one another. That virtually never happens anymore.
