How did you get all those pre-2002 components on a 2002 bike? I'm pretty sure I put 9 speed ultegra on my 1992 Bianchi in 1998 or so.

Regardless, as others have mentioned - you can get the full 105 group for less than 500. Do you have any interest in learning how to put it on yourself? It's not that hard. You're guaranteed to screw at least one aspect of the install up, so helpful friends may be in order, but $1000 to install 105 is highway robbery.

You could even think about a triple in San Francisco, really. Don't let the manly crowd talk you out of it.
