I have also found that something around the neck in the summer heat really, really helps. I have a couple of these and they work well also (see link below). Similar to the kool tie but I like them better because they help in the winter and windy days also....pull up over my face....yeah we don't have much of a winter here. But if you want to ride in wind come down south. You have the hat portion covered.

I lived in San Antonio 25 years but now live in the real South TX.
The fan mentioned is good also.
Either way, it's guaranteed to be hot. And a journal on crazyguyonabike (CGOAB) is a must as texbiker mentioned. I'll follow your journey on CGOAB. Heck I wish I could go with you on my next tour, but then again I wish I was retired!
Keep us posted and good luck, looks like you're off to a good start....and yes train in the heat. It was over 100 degrees here this last Saturday and Sunday. Only 99 today...so far.
