I usually just remove the axle/bearing unit. Then inject grease into the pedal cavity. Replace the axle unit and the grease infiltrates the bearings. Is there a reason that you know the bearings are damaged? Andy.
I looked at the shimano web site and these are new and improved. There is no inner cartridge.
