I guess it would depend on what bike you can most easily get in Europe for your budget.
What part of Europe? I thought fixed gears were fairly popular in the big cities over there as well.

All in all, you're gonna be happiest with the bike you think looks the coolest and want to ride. I commute on an aluminum track bike, it's in no way practical and there are 100 other bikes that would be better for the area i live in, but I enjoy my bike.
