Yup, straws, that's what makes it seem like a good idea. I've been wanting one for as long time, but the modern approximations just don't look right to me. I've made do with a hydration pack. In fact I've come to the conclusion a hydration pack is the best way to carry water on the bike. Doesn't look as cool as the handlebar mount, but moves from bike to bike easily and has no impact on handling.
