Well, this is at the root a conversation about preferences. I've tried to 'splain that I've done a lot of physical things in hot weather, and LIKE HOW COTTON WORKS IN HEAT. I like how it cools, i like how it retains moisture longer than synth, i like how you can wet it down on purpose before a hike or ride and it holds all that moisture for a while, cooling you the whole time. I greatly prefer how it feels against sweaty skin.
Not really sure what else to say here guys and I abhor going around in circles on the internet.... so no offense but let's just agree that I'm right and y'all are ****ing idiots and leave it at that, eh? Like reasonable chaps?

You never answered my questions. I respect your opinions. I just want to know if they are based on data regarding other materials besides cotton.
I would also mention again that a wet garment can only cool someone when moisture can evaporate off it. In Houston that would occur to a far lesser degree than in say Phoenix.
It also matters to what extent the fabric is holding the moisture and fighting its evaporation. Cotton, being extremely hydrophilic, holds moisture more strongly than polyester. Hence the basis for the result that wet technical fabrics cool the body better in any relative humidity than does wet cotton.
What say you regarding any experience you may have with fabrics other than cotton?
