Golden State Race Series day 2. 2.3 mile flat course with about 9 turns and a fun little chicane before a 150m sprint finish.
E4 30+ Circuit Race 7th of 64. 5th in the omnium (4th yesterday and 7th today).
Shorter writeup than my other novels...fun race overall, safer group than yesterday. The race started with a hot lap prime that I took with a few guys contesting (Skratch Hydration??). As I recovered I saw I had a teammate in the field, so I launched him into the second of two primes which he took. Around lap 5 of 8, a break of 4 strong guys got away and I assumed they'd get reeled back in by the field. Didn't happen by the last lap and my teammate pulled me up to the front and I hammered after the break, caught them just before the chicane, got passed by two guys in the chicane and couldn't get a clear line through. 7th.
E4 Open. 2nd of 45 or so and 5th in the omnium (18th yesterday and 2nd today).
I was exhausted at this point and elected to just sit on the back of the field and see what happened near the end. It was pretty nice...I just hid, hydrated, and hid some more. With 1k to go, the group was still together and I started moving up on the inside line. I saw a couple guys from another team lining up and jump passed them, they jumped on my wheel, and I pulled off and jumped back on theirs. I rode them to the front of the field and jumped around them with 150m to the chicane, went through the chicane with one guy on my wheel and just got passed at the line. He was smart and strong and won 3 of the 4 races this weekend and got second in the other.
Fun weekend of racing for me, fun working a bit with teammates (a rarity for me), actually planning and plotting, and having things work. Need to learn to either a) have more gas at the end or b) play it smarter for wins. Good fun all around though. There were a few guys that did well in the 4s that were forced upgraded after the race (race was hosted by local association's upgrade official).
Chatted with

#UmneyDurak a bit as well. Fun to see guys in real life.
