I have to correct my earlier post about my wife's machine, it's NOT a Singer, though it looks just like the one pictured but has no brand name in gold painted on it, but it has all the exact same gold paint designs as that Singer you got it's just black paint where your's says Singer. It does have the same looking gold medallion that's on yours that says Deluxe 1952 Noel made in Japan, the motor is a .05hp Dayton motor, my wife thinks it came from Sears, neither of us know what the size is. She does have a much more modern machine she got just last year for doing fancy stitching, but for the heavy work she uses the old job.
The Japanese made some very good copies of Singer and other machines and in some cases they were even better quality... Jaguar / Maruzen was a major producer and my daughter's Sears Kenmore 1030 machine was made by this company and is a joy to use.
