INA381 / inno (RV-Inno) / ADVANCED CAR RACKS,

Disclaimer: I helped them at Interbike for two years, I helped install their racks on the Jelly Belly team vehicles, but I did it all for free. I bought my bars and mounts at a discount but nothing near free.

Also, back in the day, there were some pick up bed fork mount things. I bolted them to 2x4s. In my '88 GTI, with the back seat removed, I could carry 4 bikes with their forks mounted to such things. I don't think I ever took a picture, unfortunately, but it worked well.

Based on the following image it seems that two 90 degree brace things, with a spare front axle and misc stuff, would work well. Some of us have tons of stuff like that laying around.
