Well, I'm like that for sure, just with training not bike components. Probably that's only because I don't know enough about bike components. Lol, the radiologist who reads my MRIs is located in Colorado, his brother-in-law is some sort of addicted BMC cyclist. When I got my bike and totally loved it, radiologist told his brother-in-law whose comment back was "wait until she gets better wheels". What?! My wheels are no good??! I told him to ask BIL what better wheels should I get because I'll probably do it, so far I haven't heard back.

I can understand caring about every little bike component, if I had enough knowledge. But I'm not really sure I'd ever be interested in personally putting it all together. Mr. H probably would though. He likes to build things, fix things, take things apart.

However the training and every little detail on every ride, now that's where I get into the minutia that would make other people crazy. Training friends get it, but non-training friends want to believe that I'm sapping all the joy out of cycling. Really, that's funny, because I'm the one always having the most fun out there.

When people complain to me about where they are cycling-wise, "my cardio is terrible, it's so hard to build that up," I have to remind myself to respond like a normal person, "don't worry, it will come". Not rattle off the training mistakes that I think they're making, "you need to eat more, diet less and spend more time working at lower intensity, cut out the 7 hours of spin class during the week and do some easy road rides instead".
