Stoker feels too cramped, so looking for a new tandem.. any help?

Hey tandem folks

After trying different stems, seat posts and handlebars, my stoker just doesn't like the cramped position of our Dyno Crestline tandem. She can't lean forward enough to take the weight off her rear, so after about 5 miles, even with a suspension seat post, she's not a happy camper. So we're selling the Crestline, and I've been looking on Craigslist for a replacement. Right now there are two I see that are in our price range, but I'm not confident that we'd be happy with either one

The first is a 1992 Gary Fisher Gemini.. looks nice the rear seat post measures 17" which doesn't sound promising since we want more space for the stoker.

The second is a mid 90s Trek T-200.. it looks to be nicely equipped but it's a 700c bike with drop bars.. I don't own any other 700c bikes so I'd prefer to stick with 26", but maybe this one might be designed for the stoker to be more stretched out?

Does anyone have any experience with either of these tandems or have any other advice about how to improve stoker comfort? I tried a laid back seat post and a suspension seat post but neither one really helped.
