IIRC the original Avanti shifter was discontinued in about 1995 or so - the year the PDF you are trying to look at was published.

It continued in a different body thereafter, with all metal components, until it was finally discontined in 1998/99. It was, in the form that you have, part of an ill-fated attempt to break into the entry-level market.

You can use a 2000 - 2009 shape / pattern ErgoPower with EC-RE060 fitted to keep your 8s system running - we can do this conversion if you can supply a second-generation ergopower shifter, we have the 8s ratchet / cable bushes in stock. Email link is under he company name below.

Hi Graeme, after a good nights sleep I decided to change my drive train and shifting completely and will sell the "broken" shifter and the proper left shifter on eBay, same counts for the derailleur.

Not something nice to do during the start if the bike season, but I wanted to do it anyway coming winter.

thanks anyway for the information, it still might be very much helpful for others with the same problems that I have, specially the retro stuff.
