Segways are brilliant engineering. But they're lousy *design*: they serve no purpose that a bike or pair of legs won't solve for almost all of their potential users. They are massively high-tech and massively expensive, so they'll have a big environmental impact and loads of proprietary parts.

That offroad Segway has way too high a COG. Take some notes from wheelchair sports, put the wheels at a camber and widen the beam of the beast.
