Yep, suspension fork. My only other guess was overpressure blowout (had that happen once on another bike with shocks). I thought disc brakes had actual tabs that came out 90 deg. from the fork? (Like this one: http://galluscycles.files.wordpress....3/img_1629.jpg)

Also, I don't think I've ever seen any on the right side - always the left.
