I guess the OP is long gone, but I do admire his dedication and this is an interesting discussion. I occasionally see folders on CL for really low prices, especially if they need tires or have a rusty chain. Probably better in the off season. I got a Breezer Sig 7 for $80 a year ago in the winter. Someone on here picked up a Bike Friday for a few hundred, IIRC.
