hub wobble, superbe pro's... help?

hi friends,

a few nights ago i snapped my chain (due to my improper and impatiently hasty installation) while riding up a hill... it wasn't so bad, except the chain wrapped itself around the rear cog and the wheel wouldn't spin at all. i probably only went on for a few feet dragging it behind me until i slowed enough to hop off and fix it. anyways, the chain seized itself around that cog pretttty good and it took some knuckle skin and swearwords to get it off. the next morning i put on a new chain, everything is all good. except i notice that my hub -- suntour superbe pros -- has a bit of wobble in it. what i mean is that it's nutted into the rear drops, new chain on, everything alligned, and there's like a minute little side to side play. i can take my thumb and press it to the tire/rim and notice the slightest bit of movement down at the hub body/axle area... and when i sort of drop the rear wheel down onto the ground from an inch or two up there's a slight reverberation that wasn't there prior to the chain mess. i imagine throwing the chain and having it wrap and bind itself around the cog did a bit of damage to the insides of the hub? the side to side play is very minimal, but it is enough to notice since the wheel was as solid and quiet as can be just a few nights ago.

questions are as follows:

1- any ideas as to what has happened to my hub? i.e. anyone experience the same thing, hopefully someone with lots of knowledge on servicing these precious hubs since they are mighty scarce...

2- is this something i could probably fix myself without getting too into things? i have limited knowledge of the innerworkings of hubs, but could probably manage to follow instructions. only problem is that i've never even touched the inners of the superbe's before.

3- is it worth it to have a shop do it, or better off just trying to find the same hub and consider this one retired? i'd realllllly hate to throw in the towel.

Thanks friends!
