First of all, the bike is not that memorable. There's very little recorded about it and absolutely no noticeable fanfare on the INTERNET, or anywhere else for that matter. There was little interest drummed up in the vintage forum when it was discussed back in '08.
$600 sounds like a pipe dream to me. That aluminum frame is already seven years old and there's no telling how much the bike has been ridden. Aluminum does have fatigue issues.
I'd offer $400 and no more, after a test ride...

For $600, you could get a real banging Performance hybrid, which is essentially the same as a road bike with flat handlebars. As a matter of fact, today there's a sale going on at REI.
If you become a member within the next few days, you can purchase a brand new GT Corsa 1.0, with a Tiagra Gruppo for only $640. It's 20% of in addition to their sale price. There are other decent road bikes available at REI, as well.
Buying used can sometimes be a crap shoot, if you're not too bike savvy. I would strongly suggest that you either buy from REI or perhaps online, in order to scoop up on the savings.
Good Luck!
