Just posting an update. A second crack started forming at another nipple on the rim (drive-side like before). I kept riding since it was still true. Then one day I was riding, heard a pop, and the wheel was slightly wobbly. I rode home, took a look, and the spoke had pulled loose from the frame. It looks like the eyelet cracked in half in the rim, and there were pieces bouncing around inside the rim.
Maybe one of these days I'll buy a new rim and try to swap it for a fun project (I like doing new bike mech stuff). However, the fact that it cracked in two places makes me want to avoid these in the future. I think I'm too heavy/strong for a wheel like this.
I purchased a set of Mavic CXP33s with 105 hubs from Bicycle Wheel Warehouse and they seem to be pretty nice. Heavier than the Ksyrium's, but I feel they will last a lot longer. I read a lot of good things about this combo. It really came down to between the CXP33s and the Mavic Open Pros, but liked the idea that the CXPs were more aero.
