no one else brought up ATACs, so i guess i have to. i rode SPDs for at least 10 years on my MTB, then switched to time ATACs. so much better at shedding mud (guess that doesnt matter for street fixed), i like not having to adjust the tension, swapable cleats give you float options, 100% rebuildable, and parts are easily available from any shop that has QBP as a distributor. eggbeaters are very similar to ATACs, but not as durable, IMO. ive seen many a smashed/broken eggbeaters in MTB racing. i have smashed my ATACs so goddam hard into rocks i cannot believe they have never broken...no, im serious...like really really hard.
