Had to go home and crank down on the cap to get it to touch the contact. Might put a piece of foam in there today if I still have issues so that it can reach contact as I have a crit tonight and want the data.

Assuming that is the actually problem
hey, chemist--
the contacts on that battery cover can be a problem with a quarq. i'm also assuming you're using good batteries. (i ask only because one time i bought a lot of 25 or 50 batteries on amazon, and when i tested with a multimeter many of them reported low voltage....with even a minor dip (a tenth of a volt), i've found the quarq can cut out.)

one more thing: if you handle those small coin cells with your fingers it is very easy to get oil on them. in the quarq, this can cause power to drain VERY quickly. if at all possible, use gloves/a tissue/whatever to avoid getting any oils on the cell.

unfortunately the communication of battery status between quarq and head unit can be very spotty. good on ya for having the spare battery!

when the battery starts to head south, sometimes the prior data is suspect.
