As for the commute? It takes me roughly 45-50 minutes each way. I work from home about once a week. I am thinking about biking 1-2x a week. Today was my "first" attempt. It means roughly 45 minutes on the train and 45 minutes on the bike each way. (10-15 minutes to train station > 45 minute train ride > 30 minute bike ride to office). My hours are flexible enough so I can time things to more off-peak times. Or at the edges of the peak. And my job/coworkers are a good fit. Maybe in a year or 2 I'll pick a job closer to home, but this is the right opportunity at the right time for now.
keep it up!

the visa is always easier than one thinks and once one escapes the insularity that is the US, the globe is at your "becke and call."
