Yep, the shoes accept SPD

. That oval piece pries off and the mounting screws are under there. I bought them when I got the Vita just for that reason. Thanks for the encouragement!

Wow, sorry to hear what you went through! I hit my left arm, and being right handed I coped. I didn't shift the front derailleur for a while though

Most people have a 0 mph fall or two when learning clipless. Assume you will. Wear elbow pads for the first week, if you tend to splat rather than roll when you fall....
Oh yeah, I splat. It's hard not to instinctively put your arm out to break a fall. I should look at YouTube and see if there are any vids teaching how to fall correctly
