Many will tell you as much in the opposite direction, that you have to be nuts to repaint an iconic 'Miami Vice' Ironman. The Purple/yellow is the most recognized scheme of the series. Sure, less enlightened will tease you due to their ignorance and insecurity. But it takes a true cyclist in-the-know to embrace it, and put the hammer down.
If it is just too 80s for your taste, I'd say sell it to someone who likes it (like myself) and get a version of the Ironman you prefer. They came in many cool finishes.
Not aware of anyone making those decals.
I got my 1985 Centurion Elite RS because the owner wanted me to remove the cranks so he could paint it black and get rid of the fruity colors, I told him he was crazy & he should just leave it alone. Thank god the bike was 6 sizes to big for him & I had a Bianchi Europa in his size that he asked me to trade for the Centurion.
