Just an update on this - I haven't actually made any changes yet, but I went to talk to the mechs at my LBS, and they said that probably I could get away with the DA RD, but that the longer chain would be kind of floppy if I ever found myself on the small chain ring and the smaller cogs. They said that overall, shifting would be smoother with the Ultegra medium cage. So probably that is what I will do.
