In the 70's a lot of newbies bought their first "10-speed" bikes and a lot of them thought a real tall frame was really macho. Problem was that they weren't tall enough for the frame they bought. Too-tall frames are still cool in some "urban" taste schemes.
I chuckle when I see my neighbors riding the bikes their kids outgrew and left behind. And they haven't raised the seats from where their kids rode them at the age of 12.
