I think both bikes are great! But I think it'll come down to which bike is most comfortable for you. Try riding both and compare. I was also having a hard time deciding which bike to get. For me, it came down to Cannondale Synapse Carbon 5 or Specialized Roubaix 105. Since it was only $100 diff between the 2, i went with Cannondale because of full 105 components.For your price range, you also might want to look into Specialized Sectuer models. Those are comfortable bikes too. Whatever bike you choose, I'm sure you're going to love it! Ride safe and good luck!
