Winter gloves - Next winter :)

So I am having fun riding in the warm weather in Boston .. but when I saw the REI EMail about a sale I was wondering if I should get some nice warm gloves for next winter. The reason I need those are that in my previous 2 winters in Boston, my gloves have pretty much been inadequate and I think I will get a nice warm pair this winter.

Winter 1 - I wore simple fleece/wool gloves and the wind went right through every time and my hands ached and ached and turned red every time. The conclusion was that those gloves were fine till 40F. Anything below they are useless. Yes. I didn't know. I moved here from India

Winter 2 - I wore the fleece gloves but with a cheap Walmart glove (3M Thinsulate) on top. That seemed reasonably effective until about 25-30F. Anything below they too turned useless. I found it interesting that a 20$ glove was ok till that temperature btw

Point is though.... this winter I want to ride without worrying about my hands - they get pretty cold pretty quick. And the REI offer ends tomorrow . I'm thinking of some kind of lobster mittens... you know those ones where 2 fingers go into 1 slot and 2 into another? But I can't find those on REI.

So the question is...can anyone see if there is anything currently on REI in the 40-60$ price range that'll work in the winter? I did ride (albeit small distances) even in 10 F temperatures...so I do ride and would like to be nice and comfy this time.

If there's nothing on REI, what would you guys recommend for gloves in the 40-60$ range? NO animal leather btw

Edit: Just saw this - Nathan TransWarmer Convertible Gloves/Mittens with LEDs at REI.com . Are these good for at least the 10 - 30F temperature range?
