I kinda dreamed of lobster gloves last winter, but I managed to score a pair of no name skiing gloves from Lidl (our cheap european supermarket) for 6 euros which is about 9 bucks, and they worked fine whole winter. I think the best they held was -30 celsius and were already too hot for -10 celsius. For warmer than that I just used a pair of mechanics gloves with thin polyester glove underneath. If you can, use polyester undergloves /they cost like 5 bucks a pair and make a world of difference. Also, you can have several with you and just in warm dry ones every now and then as they weigh next to nothing and take little space.

But make sure to buy the right ones. Not the workman types, more like the thin ones chicks use sold at H&M. They need to be skintight (not all gloves are, even the thin ones) or they don't work.
