Comfort saddle may not be more comfortable. Most people find that a minimally padded saddle is actually better. Your best bet is going to the bike shop and seeing if you can demo several different models.
Just able to touch the ground is pretty normal. Ideally, your leg is almost straight when the pedal is at the bottom. That means that your foot will basically be at the level of pedal, so it should be a few inches off the ground. If you point your toes, you might or might not be able to touch the ground depending on foot length and ankle flexibility.
