Hammer's website is full of information that encourages people (mostly triathletes) to over eat/drink during training and racing. They are really good at marketing their stuff! Similarly, if you read the label on any of the gels: consume a gel every 20 minutes during exercise (6 gels during an early morning 2hour bike ride??). It's why you see people eating gels, sports beans and guzzling gatorade during a 25 minute 5k race!
The posts about eating before racing remind me of the episode of The Office where Michael carbo loads with Fettuccine Alfredo before the 5k charity run!
