Perhaps it is my mind set or age, in my car bike, tractor - I like to shift for myself.
I understand their possible advantage to someone who might need help shifting.
I also prefer shifting manually
. For me, it’s part of the fun of riding a multispeed bicycle, so I never consider it a hassle or inconvenience
. When necessary, I already simultaneously shift the front and rear derailleurs, so intelligent shifting won’t be any faster for me especially since there are times whereby upshifting the
front derailleur alone yields a better optimized gear ratio for the change in the terrain

While I think it’s neat for individuals who prefer techie gizmos, I still prefer the simplicity of purely mechanical shifting
. I don’t have to worry about any batteries dying, or forgetting to charge the batteries prior to a ride, or a broken wire, or electronic circuitry failures
.
