Excellent!
These old Brit Council films were always good. They were a quiet sort of propaganda produced by a tired, broke, struggling, post-war country that was fast losing grip on empire. But they were good stuff nonetheless. At this time, Britain retained a huge, very skilled workforce and a very capable industrial sector. Films such as this were trying to boost and sell this capacity to a world market. Lest anyone forget, the last U.K.ration cards were issued in early 1956 — just months before I was taken there by my mother who had left Britain to emigrate to Canada just about the time this film was made. This doco is a "time tunnel" more than it is nostalgia and more educational than esoteric.
Thanks Jim!
