But I'd like to encourage you to work on some stretching exercises into your current physical regimen. Having flexibility will definitely increase your riding enjoyment. From my experience, you are never too old to work on stretching (I'll be 47 in a few weeks) and strengthening your core as well as making yourself more flexible helps to fight off the aches and pains of our advancing years.

Agreed. I stretch my lower back before getting out of bed each morning and my lower legs too, but a full body stretch routine would be beneficial including my hamstrings and mid/upper back at least.
I've been hearing more about the importance of core body strength in the last year or two. Do you have a good link to guide me to appopriate core body exercises? I can look on line myself, but if you have one, I'd appreciate it.
