Mulholland Double Century several years ago. We're pedaling up a steep section of Cold Creek in utter darkness. A big black SUV appears behind us, and slowly moves over to pass. The passenger window rolls down, and a 20 something male leans out the window ...
"Hey, if you don't mind me asking, what the hell are you guys doing out here, anyway?"
"Finishing up a double century ... a 200 mile bike ride."
He leaned into toward the driver and repeated what we said, then leaned out the window again, fist in the air:
"You guys rock!"
