I kinda doubt you will be able to save much (if at all).

Right now 2013 Di2 components alone around 1K and it's unlikely they will drop.
With 1+K spent on the rest of the bike your potential savings will be neglectable comparing to all the build hassles (unless of course you love that and have need or desire to build exactly what you want, which rarely cheap I understand ).

Also keep in mind you will need to spec frame which will support Di2, those again not cheap and will limit your options.

Just like you I was torn between getting something I can ride without hesitation and spending thousands on it, since I had zero bike building background and knowledge in general I decided to just spend more money

Btw I crashed on that Di2 bike on my second ride
