I believe there is just about as much stigma in seeing an adult ride a bicycle to work. I don't care when people see me riding a kick scooter (Xootr) around town. Being able to do what you want in life is liberaton. It's about being an adult period.
I used to feel a little of this while waiting on a drizzly day for a bus to show up. More I thought about it, the more I realized that this was all in my head. Most people couldn't care less how you get to work. I suppose it's really the novelty of it that makes you feel so uncertain.
That soon wears off though.
