New Road Bike - New to Road Cycling

Hey all,

I started out on this forum in the Clydesdale section as I was pushing almost 300lbs and was looking to get rid of the extra weight I had put on. I have been riding a 1993 Trek 830 Antelope which will remain my commuter ride. I went from a 46" waist to a 34" waist. I have lost over 100lbs and as a gift to myself I purchased an entry level road bike.

I bought a 2013 Giant Defy 3 Composite.

I picked this because the geometry is a bit more relaxed and being new to this type of riding I wanted to get a good start and not be uncomfortable. I am amazed at how light this bike is and how fast it is compared to anything I have ever ridden. I am going to be needing some suggestions for pedals and shoes etc.....

This is a great place for motivation and information.

Thanks!!!
