Repainting a bike affects it's value. If the bike basically has no value to begin with you have nothing to lose. In this case, however, you have a pretty high end old bike that also has sentimental value to your family. I wouldn't do it.

yeahh.. i feel bad thinking about changing its color.. just a little tho got me thinking how the bike would look like after its been painted. were using urethane paint on this bike. my dad gave it to me tho and i want it to be a personal bike. so maybe i'l be changing its color guys. thanks for your concerns and tips tho i'm thinking of a pearl white frame, white tires and seats, and a brown grip. hows that sound? i'm really putting some trust on this painter. i'm not really sure how good his paint job is. but people tell he's an oldie that knows what he's doing. so it concerns me too.
